Best of luck to our Junior A footballers who contest the Division 4 League final tomorrow at 12 pm in Corofin vs Michael Cusack's. The Junior As are powered by veterans, David Russell, Sean O’Meara, Eoin Glynn, Eoin Slattery and Mikey O’Regan balanced by the youth and energy (and more importantly legs of) Cathal Darcy, Mark Collins, Cathal Lynch, Gearoid Collins and Rory Brennan. 5 of the first choice defenders are all under 21 so gaining invaluable adult football experience. The Junior As beat Michael Cusack's by a single point in the semi-final of the Junior A championship last year on their way to their final defeat in the most unfortunate of circumstances by Naomh Eoin hence the Carron men will be looking for revenge. Anyone who witnessed the Junior As first league of the season out in Quin against Clooney-Quin where manager Billy Woods had to start in goals would be surprised by the teams advance to the final. The Junior As beat a highly fancied Kilkee 1st team managed by former star Clare intercounty player, David Russell and the experienced intercounty coach, Ger Keane (who also coaches the Éire Óg senior team), out in Kilkee in the semi-final on a score line of 2-8 to 0-8 with goals by Eoin Glynn and Cillian O’Donoghue. Michael Cusack's are unbeaten in the league so far and hence the favourites, however the one team they failed to beat in the league this year – the Éire Óg Junior As. All this augurs for a close game in the high temperatures at midday tomorrow in the close environs of Corofin. So come along and support our Junior As – come on the Townies!
