Next weekend sees our junior A and senior hurlers back in action when the juniors take on Clarecastle in a semi-final in Corofin on Saturday 24th following a great win over the Banner last weekend. On Sunday, our seniors meet Inagh Kilnamona in quarter-final action in Cusack Park. Times tbc. Draws for the next round of football championships are expected to take place on Monday evening.
Info evening update for Dressing rooms/Gym project
Last nights information evening at the Temple Gate was well attended, attendees were given a presentation by some of the project team. A lively and productive Q & A session followed and there is strong momentum now towards starting the fundraising campaign, beginning Monday at Academy training where brochures on the project will be available.
Ferns Fitness Fridays
We had a very positive start to James Ferns fitness last Friday with 14 taking part on a lovely evening in Éire Óg. Meeting again this evening just after 6.30pm for a 45 min session. All are most welcome and all abilities are catered for. €5 per class, grab a friend and come along.
Comhghairdeas le Deirdre Murphy
Congratulations to Clooney’s Deirdre Murphy who has been appointed Head of Operations with Clare GAA. Deirdre has a wealth of experience having worked as development officer at UL and the Camogie Association and is a founding member of the Women’s Gaelic Players Association. She is steeped in Gaelic games having represented Clooney Quin and Clare on the camogie field.
We wish Deirdre the very best in her new role and look forward to continued developments in Clare GAA.
Camogie
Intermediate and junior championship action continues this weekend with our intermediates out tonight at 8.15pm in Shannon v Whitegate, while our juniors host Ruan, tomorrow Saturday 17th at 6pm in the junior C shield semi-final. On Wednesday 21st, our U16s play the Banner in Éire Óg at 6pm.
Academy
Another busy week at the Academy.
Our Minor A Hurlers have to meet Kilmaley again on Monday evening after Wednesday's match had to be abandoned near the end. A win on Monday secures a semi-final tie with Clooney-Quin on Saturday 24th September.
Best of luck to this group who take on Wolfe Tones this evening in Shannon. Hopefully we can progress to quarter-finals with another win under their belt.
Our U14 hurlers welcome Doora-Barefield to Eire Og on Saturday morning in a knockout tie in the "A" Championship.
U10 Football Go-Games v Doora-Barefield in Gurteen on Friday evening. With numbers at the age so strong we also have an U10 team playing in Eire Og during Academy Training on Friday.
Our U8s host Lissycasey on Monday evening in their Go-Games schedule.
It’s great that the weather is being so kind so far for all groups.
Ladies football
Sunday sees our U12s take on Kildysart in the final at 10am in Éire Óg, and later in the day our intermediate team take on Clooney Quin in a must win tie also in Éire Óg at 2pm. On Monday 19th our U14s take on Clarecastle in Éire Óg.

15/09/2022 numbers drawn: 2, 4, 16, 29. There was no jackpot winner. We had 2 x match 3 winners: Deborah Ryan and Geraldine Moloney, each landing €50 each. Michael O’Shea won the promoters prize of €25.
