Hard luck to our junior B footballers who were bested by Wolfe Tones in last weekend’s championship quarter-final, the lads have had a good year, getting approx 13 games under the belt.
A tough day out for our intermediate camogie team in the semi v Tulla. A game of two halves, with Tulla on top in the first half leading 6pts to 3 at half time. A second half comeback from the Red & Whites saw us take a one point lead with time up but Tulla responded with a quick goal and point well into injury time to clinch the spot in the Cup final. Final score Éire Óg 7 points, Tulla 1.07. The very best of luck to Tulla in the final.
Next weekend our minor hurlers are in semi final action v Wolfe Tones on Saturday, venue/time tbc. On Sunday our senior footballers take on Corofin in the SFC semi in Cusack Park.
Éire Óg Inis 70th Birthday!
The 70th anniversary of the founding of Éire Óg will be marked by an informal get-together in the clubhouse on Friday October 21st from 7.30pm. The event, consisting of a remembrance service, a pictorial trip down memory lane and some refreshments, is of course open to all members, but there's a special welcome for former players, officials and team managers, who wish to renew old friendships, swap tall tales of daring deeds and relive battles won and lost. Many former players and club officers, some of whom may have lost contact over the years, were written to, informing them of the evening, but if you know of someone who you feel would like to go, please bring them along. It will be a very informal, casual event for the club to show appreciation to those great Townies who got us to where we are today.
