Congratulations to the Gallow's Hill/Turnpike team led by captain, Phily Walsh, who were convincing winners in the 2022 Eugene McNamara St. Stephen's Day Tournament yesterday.
Turnpike turned on the style in the final with a hat-trick of goals from Rory Hickey to defeat the "blow-ins" from Shanaway Road with their 7 sets of siblings. Turnpike for their part had the power of the Russells and McMahons to call upon on. Rumors are rife that after yesterdays' performance, Rory Hickey will be getting a call from Brian Lohan to partake in a personalized training program and dietary regime to prepare for the upcoming championship. A forward line with Tony Kelly, Shane O'Donnell and Rory Hickey will have Limerick quaking in their boots !
The Eugene McNamara Shield was won by the Gort Road team led by our senior hurling club captain and stalwart, Liam Corry. The lads from the Gort Road defeated the Flannan's road team led by Kevin Moynihan. The full set of results for our 2022 Eugene McNamara St. Stephen's Day Tournament are here -
Finally, we had over 150 hardy souls who braved the cold weather to support this annual event - many thanks to you all! Most importantly, we raised 1,630 euros for our 3 chosen charities.
